183rd Indiana University Bloomington
Commencement May 5, 2012

IU Bloomington will award nearly 9,000 degrees as it celebrates its 183rd commencement this year. The Bloomington campus undergraduate ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 5. Indiana University President Michael McRobbie will preside over two similar ceremonies in Assembly Hall, with the morning session starting at 10 a.m. and the afternoon session at 3 p.m. The processions of graduates begin 45 minutes prior to those times.
David L. Carden, the United States’ first resident ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, will be the featured speaker of the Saturday morning Commencement session. Grammy Award winning musician Booker T Jones, Class of 1967, will speak at the afternoon session and will also receive an honorary IU doctorate of music.
