Myles Brand began his presidency at Indiana University in 1994. He has overseen a period of remarkable growth for the university, including record student enrollments and achieving national leadership in information technology and the life sciences, while maintaining the traditional strengths in arts and humanities. Indiana University Bloomington was named by Time Magazine as College of the Year among research universities in September 2001.
