Dedication of Neal/Marshall Center

IU formally opened the new Department of Theatre and Drama Center and the Marcellus Neal and Frances Marshall Black Culture Center on Jan. 18. Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, noted authors, actors and activists, presented the keynote address in the building's Ruth N. Halls Theatre. The dedication ceremony also included speeches by IU President Myles Brand, IU Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Stephens Brehm and Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez, as well as personal reflections by various faculty and student leaders.

This recording of the ceremony also features a musical performance by the IU African American Choral Ensemble and students from the IU School of Music. The entire program lasts about one hour and 30 minutes.
