Dr. Brand became president of IU in 1994.
Lt. Governor Joseph E. Kernan chairs the 21st Century Research and Technology Fund, established in 1999, which supports new business development in the high-tech, high-paying sectors of life sciences and computer technology. Through the Indiana Department of Commerce and the state's other economic development-related agencies, 400,000 Hoosier jobs have been positively affected during Mr. Kernan's tenure.
As president of the CICP, Mr. Goodrich oversees an alliance of Indiana business and research university leaders. Their formation fosters long-term prosperity for the region. As one of the founders of the Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative, Mr. Goodrich, a former real estate executive, is leading the CICP in its efforts to increase the number of jobs, businesses, and research opportunities in the life sciences industry in central Indiana.
The panel was moderated by Gerry Dick, creator and host of the statewide television program Inside Indiana Business. He is also co-founder of the Grow Indiana Media Ventures, LLC (GIMV). GIMV is a diverse media company focused on producing and distributing Indiana business and technology news, information and data profiles through multiple media channels. The company owns television, radio, and Internet properties. Mr. Dick has also served as senior vice president and director of marketing and communications for the Indianapolis Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and as an award-winning reporter and field anchor at WRTV 6 News in Indianapolis.
