Commencement at Indiana University Kokomo is a tribute to student achievement, honoring the dedication required to reach this day and looking forward to the new paths our graduates will forge. This class has shown the persistence required to reach this pinnacle of achievement and is celebrated at this ceremony, rich with symbols that define the academic experience. A key highlight is the turning of the tassel, where graduates move their tassels to the left upon the official conferral of their degrees. The ceremony also includes musical performances, including the university’s alma mater, “Hail to Old IU,” which has been a feature of formal ceremonies since 1893. We honor the hard work of our graduates on this special day and celebrate the lasting mark they have left. These new alumni are prepared to lead with purpose and continue the legacy of excellence that defines the IU Kokomo community, carrying their curiosity into their professional lives.
