The Indiana University South Bend Commencement is a tribute to student achievement, marking the closing of one academic chapter and the exciting beginning of another. Driven by intellectual curiosity, our graduates stand ready to lead our region and the nation. Supported by the friends and family who stood by them, these students are recognized today for the indelible mark they have left on our campus and their entry into the next phase of IU’s history. The ceremony preserves grand traditions, beginning with an academic procession led by the Grand Marshal and academic regalia, where the color of graduate tassels represents their degree-granting school. The most anticipated tradition remains the conferral of degrees, where the symbolic turning of the tassel signifies the transition from student to alumnus. We celebrate these milestones today and honor the enduring contributions our graduates have made, focused on excellence and fueled by a desire to make a difference. These graduates represent the very best of IU South Bend, poised to lead with purpose and create positive change in the world.
