Indiana University Bloomington will remember the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at this year’s Leadership Breakfast where broadcast journalist and philanthropist Soledad O’Brien will deliver the keynote address. O’Brien’s presentation, “Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes and In Our Lives,” will provide a behind-the-scenes look at her work and inspiring narratives about the importance of making a difference.
Soledad O’Brien is an award-winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor, and producer. Her many accolades include the recognition as a journalist of the year in 2010 by the National Association of Black Journalists, two Emmy awards for her coverage of race issues, a third Emmy for her reporting on the 2012 presidential election, and two George Foster Peabody Awards.
In 2013, O’Brien founded Starfish Media Group, a multi-platform media production and distribution company that is focused on uncovering powerful stories that take a challenging look at the often divisive issues of race, class, wealth, poverty, and opportunity through personal narratives.
