IU Collections Teaching, Research, and Exhibition Center and IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

The Trustees of Indiana University, President Michael A. McRobbie, and Vice President for Research Fred H. Cate celebrate IU’s new research and exhibitions center and Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

McCalla, home to the new Collections Teaching, Research & Exhibition Center, will engage students, faculty, and public audiences with IU’s more than 300 significant art, cultural, and historical collections across all IU campuses. The newly upgraded space will deliver innovative, hands-on classroom and instruction tools, interactive digital displays, multiple gallery spaces, and space for events and other needs.

The Indiana University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (IUMAA) will bring together IU’s rich archaeological and anthropological collections, including those of the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology and the Mathers Collection. The result will be a world-class destination for scholars, students, and the public, featuring collections and research resources, dynamic exhibits, engaging and accessible programming, and other outreach efforts serving IU’s education and research missions.

Both are made possible through partnership and with generous support from the State of Indiana and private support.
