Indiana University unveiled the official portrait of former president Michael McRobbie during a ceremony at Franklin Hall.
McRobbie arrived at IU in 1997 as the university’s first vice-president for information technology. In July 2007, he succeeded Adam Herbert to become IU’s 18th president.
Following his retirement in 2021, he was named the chancellor.
During his 14 years in office, an academic restructuring project added 10 new schools, and nearly 200 facilities across the state were added or renovated. McRobbie also led the fundraising Bicentennial Campaign, which raised around $4 billion for the university.
